Immanuel runs a professionally staffed nursery for ages 0-2. Children preK-5th may also worship and attend Sunday School between the hours of 9 am and 12 pm. Sunday School classes follow the Seasons of the Spirit Lectionary curriculum, which explores bible stories and engages in hands-on learning activities for faith development.
Once a month kids gather in fellowship to participate in a local fun activity and build community with one another. Activities include baking bread for World Communion Sunday, trips to Jumpology, family bowling, picnics, as well as summer Day Camp and Presbytery Retreats.
During worship, our sanctuary offers a space to worship freely in the children’s worship corner for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. Crayons, manipulatives, and seasonally/age appropriate books and activities are provided. A rocking chair is provided for parents of small children.
Two Sunday School classes split middle- (6-8) and high-schoolers (9-12). These classes also follow Seasons of the Spirit, allowing youth to wrestle with the Spirit and discover the language they need in order to claim faith for themselves.
Youth meet two times per month. Every second Saturday provides a local service opportunity, ranging from participation in MAO’s Tread Red 5K to church projects to creating hygiene kits and reaching out to people experiencing housing instability. On the final Friday of each month, youth gather in fellowship around Montgomery in order to spend time together in Christian community. Summertime offers the Montreat Youth Conference, Presbytery Day Camp, and Presbytery Retreat.
Additionally, between the ages of twelve and fourteen, Immanuel offers confirmation class for youth to delve into the Presbyterian faith. If they choose, youth are invited to become full members of the church, living into their Baptismal covenant.
